Around 440 000 British tourists visited Bulgaria in 2007, the UK Ambassador to Bulgaria Steve Williams said at a meeting with Varna mayor Kiril Yordanov on February 19.

He added that the British "colony" in Bulgaria is increasing all the time, although he has no statistics for their exact number. According to the diplomat, they may number about a thousand.
