
The number of Bulgarians that have taken out loans in excess of 1 million leva increased to 77 by the end of 2007, up from 35 a year ago.
The average amount per loan has increased to 1.964 million from 1.5 million leva.
Loans of up to 1 000 leva represent the biggest share of retail loans with 1.3 million Bulgarians having borrowed 393.3 leva on average.
The total number of bank loans in the country reached 2.636 million by the end of 2007 with a combined value of 36.6 billion leva. The average loan size was 13 900 leva.
Bank deposits with a balance of up to 1 000 leva represent the biggest share of total retail deposits, with 9.3 million accounts each with an average balance of 115.6 levа.
Exactly 39 646 Bulgarians have deposited in excess of 50 000 levа each.
The total number of bank deposits stood at 11.994 million by the end of 2007, up 9.7 per cent on 2006.
Their combined value increased 33 per cent year-on-year to 32.3 billion leva.
The average deposit balance is reported at 2 694 leva.
Household deposits rose by 29.3 per cent in terms of value to 18.9 billion leva.
